In Pennsylvania, a couple held a wonderful wedding ceremony that included the groom’s four-year-old kid from a prior relationship. This boy’s new stepmother chose to read vows to him as well, and his reply brought the citizens to tears.
Josh and Emily Newville met in Burlington County, New Jersey, and had been dating for two years before deciding to marry. During that time, Emily had the chance to get close to Gage, who would later become her son. Because of their close relationship, a video from the Newvilles’ wedding went viral.
In the video, Emily can be heard reading her «vows» to toddler Gage as his stepmom. She communicated with herself through tears. «I just want you to be safe, try your utmost, and be a great person,» Gage sobs as he clutches Emily. Jessica Husted Photography captured this image.
And this is when Gage, Josh, the officiant, and even some of the loved ones in the audience lost it. This is just too good to be true. The stepmother continued, her voice shaking, determined to convey what she needed to say to her new stepson.
I’m sure we’ll butt heads… But I hope with all my heart that when you grow older, you will understand my ways and recognize that I have only done what is best for you and that I love you. »

Emily concluded her vows and moved in to hug and kiss Gage before gently asking him to go to his uncle because there was still a wedding to be completed. The most interesting thing about this movie is definitely how easygoing this stepmother is with her young child.
Emily described her relationship with Gage as «absolutely wonderful,» which is why she wanted him to be a part of their wedding. «I wanted to involve him because I committed to being Josh’s wife and stepmom at the same time,» she explained. I wanted to make him feel special and to remind him how valuable he is to me. »
He was apparently caught aback by his reaction, according to her. «He had no idea I was arranging vows to him, and I didn’t expect him to understand what was going on at four years old, but his feelings told me otherwise!»
Even when all parties involved are supportive, combining families is never easy. There are still obstacles to be overcome. But it’s clear that Gage’s health is the most important thing to their family.
His biological mother said in the video’s comments, «As his mother, I can say that she is an incredible stepmother to him.» I couldn’t have chosen a better person. Gage is lucky to have her, and I’m grateful I can rely on her to be there when I can’t! »
At the end of the day, Gage has two mothers who adore him. And it’s a lovely sight to see.
