By the age of 50, Annegret Raunig, a teacher from Berlin became mom for 12 times! She was married, but the marriage could not be saved, and for most of her life Raunig raised her children in the status of a single mother. In 2005, she first appeared on the pages of the German press, becoming the oldest mother in Germany.
Annegret resorted to artificial insemination and became mom for the 13th time. Then the woman was 55 years old.
Raunig’s pregnancy caused heated discussions: many people thought she acted selfishly and irresponsibly. But Annegret ignored the criticism. She enjoyed attending TV shows and giving interviews, talking about her life.
When Lela turned 9, Annegret surprised the country again. The woman decided that it was time to experience the happiness of motherhood again. In addition, Lelia asked her mother to give her a brother or sister… However, by that time Raunig had already entered menopause and she could not give birth naturally.
German laws prohibit ovule donation, so Annegret went abroad — she underwent IVF in one of the clinics in Kiev.
Fortunately, everything went well, and on May 19, 2015, Annegret gave birth to quadruplets: sons Dris, Bence, Fionne and daughter Nita. The children were born 15 weeks prematurely as a result of cesarean section. All of them weighed less than a kilogram: from 655 to 980 grams, so they had to spend several months in the clinic. This time, Raunig broke not only the national, but also the world record, becoming the oldest mother of quadruplets in history.
